Congratulations to our elected Directors. Thank you for your service to our retiring Directors. And to all the Candidates: Thank you for your efforts on behalf of our community.

Follow up on our election, our process and verification of proxy receipts will be published soon. In the meantime, read about our annual meeting!

It was documented that one Shareholder was permitted to vote without presenting ID. SPBuzz contacted Election Committee Chair Wei-Li Tjong, who followed up immediately by putting representatives of the election company "on notice" that ID checking was essential. Can't find four you like? Voting for fewer than four candidates gives your favorites a better chance. Our elections are often close with only a single vote distinguishing winners from losers. Allocate your votes wisely!

"The Eric Gazette" attributes Travers' flyer (posted May 20) to SPComm/Seward Park Neighbors, suggests that that the four candidates promoted in that flyer favor maintenance increases, endorses Brown, Kolber, Lieberman & Riga, resigns from the Election Committee, and raises concerns about certain aspects of our Election Committee's process.

Kvetching, Kvelling, Knipshuns & Shandas

  • Ask The Candidates. Many questions were collected and sorted through, and a good set was delivered to the Candidates. However, the process was slow this year, and candidates were not given enough time to respond. SPBuzz apologizes to shareholders who submitted questions for not presenting them to Candidates in a more timely manner. In any case, it is hoped that the clear articulation of these concerns will serve help our new Directors establish their policy and communication priorities.

  • Shareholder Christopher Oakland contacted SPBuzz to say that he saw and asked some questions of a person who was seen distributing the Don West flyer. Mr. Oakland asked this person who was paying him; person did not offer up a name, but Mr. Oakland learned that it was someone "in building one" who fits Eric Mandelbaum's description.

  • Incumbent Candidate Fran Marino is facing possible foreclosure; her apartment was slated to be sold at public auction but there was a court-ordered stay on that sale. If she is foreclosed upon, she will no longer be a sharedholder, and will therefore be ineligible to serve on our Board of Directors. If she is elected and is subsequently foreclosed upon, she will be removed from the Board, and remaining Directors will be able to choose a replacement at their discretion. (posted June 14, 2009)

  • SPBuzz Endorses No One. Mr. Tumminia's original title to his article began with the words "SPBuzz Exclusive Article". Several shareholders interpreted the word "SPBuzz" in the headline as an indication that SPBuzz supports this candidate. SPBuzz does not Support this nor any Candidate. Likewise, SPBuzz does not not-support this nor any candidate. SPBuzz does appreciate that candidates are sharing their considered views on the issues facing our community. (posted June 12, 2009)

  • Proxy Problems. Whereas one proxy package is supposed to be sent for each apartment, the American Arbitration Association — the company that is managing this year's election sent one package to each shareholder on record. If there are multiple names on your stock certificate, multiple proxy packages were sent. To further compliate matters, SPBuzz has learned that in at least one case, a proxy package was sent to someone whose name was removed from a stock certficates more than two years ago. What list are they using? A memo went out from Wei-Li Tjong, Chairman of the Election Committee, assuring that only one vote will count per apartment. But the plentiful proxies that were issued might be tempting to some — perhaps even to some former shareholders to whom they may have been mailed. Will we be checking signatures on proxies this year? Will names and signatures be matched against current shareholders on file? SPBuzz emailed our Election Committe to find out. Stay tuned! (updated May 11, 2009)

  • E-Mal. Candidate Michael Tumminia is drawing heat for making use of a list of shareholder email addresses that was inadvertently broadcast by our Management company back in Februrary (posted May 31, 2009)

  • Due It Again! The Extended Deadline Crisis has been averted. Revised statements have been received by three candidates. Read the story here! (updated May 22, 2009)
