Caravan of Dreams

It would be easy to recommend Caravan of Dreams simply because of how it compares to so many vegetarian and most kosher restaurants. But that would be doing it a disservice. Caravan of Dreams is a great restaurant in its own right, with an extensive menu, good service, a comfortable setting, and most of all, food that regularly delights.

The restaurant is a kosher vegan-vegetarian restaurant, with a large assortment of live and raw foods. I do admit that I had some trepidation when I first started going there. The words vegan, live, raw, (and, no offense, even kosher!) don't exactly whet my appetite, and the menu, replete with references to tofu, seitan, tempeh, and vegan versions of non-vegan foods (ie, vegan sour cream) tempted me to politely excuse myself before even giving the place a chance. However, I am glad I perservered. I now eagerly try their dishes at random, and have yet to be disappointed.

I highly recommend their creative specials or their huge dinner salads. For those that prefer variety, you might content yourself by simply ordering a random pair of appetizers (my favorites are the Tempeh Appetizer and Hummus with Zattar Bread).
