The Seward Park On-Line Community

The Seward Park On-Line Community (SPCOMM) is an independent discussion group initiated and managed by shareholders of Seward Park Housing. It is in no way affiliated with or supported by the Board of Directors or the management of Seward Park Housing.

SPCOMM allows us to exchange messages on-line to enable better and more timely communications among the shareholders of Seward Park Housing. All shareholders of Seward Park are eligible to become members.

Members of SPCOMM communicate with one another about all manner of things from serious issues in our buildings (security, peeling paint, lobby decoration) and neighborhood (SPURA proposal, transportation and safety issues) to recommendations regarding restaurants and spas. It should be noted that although a lot of informed discussion takes place in SPComm, the moderators and most active members have an agenda, and during election season the rhetoric can be overbearing as they repeatedly plug "their" slate of candidates and disregard other points of view.

Aside from on-line messages, SPCOMM provides a number of useful resources, including:

  • Documents (including by-laws, history of seward park, flip-tax analysis, etc.)
  • Polls of user opinions on issues, including those discussed here.
  • Links (including tax information, community board 3, etc.)

The number of members and the volume of emails have both grown tremendously since the group began in November, 2003.
